Quantum chemistry and AI: An equitable solution to water pollution?

From a small village in Slovakia to speaking at Summer Davos.

Our Founder & CEO, Diana Virgovicova, will be speaking at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2026 in Dalian, China, as part of the official UpLink delegation.
Diana will be speaking on Building Materials with Qubits, exploring how quantum technologies can accelerate the discovery of next-generation materials and what it will take to scale these innovations into real-world industrial applications.

At Xatoms, we’re building Al-powered materials discovery tools using quantum chemistry to design new solutions for water purification.

This year’s meeting will bring together 1,500+ leaders from 90+ countries across business, government, academia and entrepreneurship under the theme Innovating at Scale.

We are proud to represent Canadian innovation on this global stage.

At Xatoms, we’re proud to be a female-founded deep tech company building technology at the intersection of AI, quantum chemistry, and water treatment, tackling some of the toughest industrial challenges in the current water systems.

We care deeply about the people behind the impact. We design solutions for problems that affect millions of people worldwide, from textile wastewater and mining pollution to emerging contaminants in water systems.

These sectors haven’t always been known for diverse voices.
But the future of clean water, climate technology, and industrial innovation will be built by diverse teams solving real-world problems.

Mining is moving fast. Water can’t be the thing that slows it down.

Our Co-founder and COO, Shirley Zhong, is heading to Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC) 2026 in Toronto to share how Xatoms helps mining operators tackle long-term pressure from emerging contaminants, hard-to-treat heavy metals, tightening regulations, and rising energy costs.

At Xatoms, we’re focused on accelerating efficient, lower-energy, lower-OPEX water treatment built for real mining conditions. Our approach is different. We develop innovative treatment materials discovered through our own AI- and quantum-chemistry material discovery platform. We customize those materials to target specific contaminants (e.g. heavy metals) and your site constraints. This allows us to address newly emerging metal-related challenges while also creating long-term value that evolves alongside regulatory change, not just short-term fixes.

We’re here to connect with mining operators and in-house R&D teams who are actively dealing with complex water challenges and looking for practical, forward-looking solutions.

We also welcome conversations with investors interested in innovative water treatment technologies for the mining industry.
